Love Street Playhouse presents “Shadowlands,” inspired by C.S. Lewis’ crisis of faith when his wife is diagnosed with cancer. The play, showing at Columbia Theatre, 1231 Vandercook Way, Longview, opens Friday and continues through Nov. 7. Nonrefundable tickets ($22 plus a $2 fee) are available at lovestreetplayhouse.com. Masks are required for this live performance.

Bloom and grow

The Vancouver Chrysanthemum Society will host its annual show from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Barberton Grange, 9400 N.E. 72nd Ave., Vancouver, showcasing prize-winning horticultural specimens, floral arrangements, live plants and cut flowers. Boo to you

Parks Foundation of Clark County will host the free Booville Halloween event from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at Vancouver Mall, 8700 N.E. Vancouver Mall Drive. Decorate free pumpkins and get free books, make your own slime, see a dance show, meet the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man from “Ghostbusters,” enjoy scary storytime and a monstrous costume parade. Lanterns and light

The community is invited to a Dia de Muertos (“Day of the Dead”) celebration from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday in Esther Short Park, 605 Esther St. in downtown Vancouver. The event is a time to remember and honor lost loved ones. The evening will feature luminarias or paper lanterns, Mexican dancing with Vancouver Ballet Folklorico, music, catrinas and traditional Dia de Muertos altars. Spooky Sunday

Wattle Tree Place is hosting a free community Halloween party 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Jane Weber Evergreen Arboretum, 9215 S.E. Evergreen Highway, Vancouver. Kids will enjoy crafts, a costume contest, potion-making, and a three-legged race, among other activities. Adults can enjoy yoga, meditation, sound bathing and intuitive readings.
