Hovland creates a half back swing and comes to a stop on this move. Right after he stops, he coils back even further to the top of his swing. This increases the shoulder rotation and the hip rotation which maximizes power.
For this drill, set up naturally with your driver, then take a half back swing. When you get to the halfway point, stop. Next try to continue rotating back in order to coil the shoulders and the hips even more. Then make a normal swing and watch the ball take off.
“This is something you can practice on the driving range before you go and play,” Parada says.
Add this drill to your pre-round routine and you will be hitting bombs before you know it.
