Santa Cruz Burger Week is back, and even if you wanted to eat hamburgers for breakfast, lunch and dinner, you wouldn’t be able to sample them all.

That’s because a whopping 30 restaurants will offer burger specials for $10 or $12 during this annual event, which runs from Feb. 19-25. And some didn’t stop with just one burger creation. The promotion aims to get diners out to try a new spot or rediscover an old favorite.

Breakfast is certainly an option. Beginning at 7 a.m., for example, Zachary’s is topping its charbroiled burger with two fried eggs, pepper bacon, cheddar cheese and grilled onions and serving it on oatmeal-molasses bread. The $10 price includes a side dish.

Creativity abounds. MacKenzie Bar & Grill’s Cubano Burger features carnitas, smoked ham, dill pickles and a spicy pineapple mango sauce ($12). Pearl of the Ocean is creating a Shredded Chicken Curry Burger ($12). The Cremer House is serving a vegetarian Beet Burger with Brie ($12). Mozaic is making a Wild Salmon Burger ($12). At Cowboy Bar & Grill there’s a Buffalo Burger ($12) with onions and gorgonzola ($12). Both Bistro One Twelve and Chocolate are going with pork — the former has the Bistro Burger ($10) and the latter a Gorgonzola Pork Burger ($12).

At the restaurant called Burger, their offering — The Luther — is served on a glazed doughnut bun ($10, includes salad or fries).

Some restaurants are offering plant-based Beyond Burgers or Impossible Burgers. Hula’s Island Grill is cooking both if you want to do a taste comparison ($12 each).
