Earlier this month, Ember Grill opened inside The Ray hotel, Delray Beach’s newest hot spot. Decked out in high-luxe tropical decor, Ember Grill seeks to reinvent the neighborhood grill experience through upscale interpretations of classics, from Wagyu burgers to Peking duck, as well as quite a few vegetarian and vegan options. Below, we spotlight a few highlights to try now.
- Begin with a specialty cocktail. There’s something for every type of spirits enthusiast here, with top-shelf liquors accented by fresh herbs, fruits, juices, and syrups. Start on a light note with either the Captain Blackberry (Grey Goose Vodka, blackberry shrub mint, and Fever Tree Ginger Beer) or the Frenchy (Sip Smith Gin, cantaloupe, orgeat, lemon juice, Champagne, and watermelon diamond ice).
- Share a few appetizers. The duck pancakes—a modern take on Peking duck—is an absolute must. Seafood lovers will also enjoy the charred octopus served with harissa aioli and crispy potatoes, while meat eaters will surely gravitate toward the Wagyu beef carpaccio.
- Opt for something from the grill and a house specialty for dinner. When it comes to selecting an entrée, sharing is caring. You can’t go wrong with the Scottish salmon (which comes with blistered cherry tomatoes, sauteed spinach, and aji amarillo sauce), the Wagyu burger (layered with gouda, griddled onions, arugula, and a secret sauce), or the vegan zucchini pasta. Of course, a side of crispy brussels sprouts and/or truffle fries is never a bad idea.
- Save room for dessert. For something that looks as good as it tastes, go with the pineapple filled with sorbet. It’s a tropical delight in every sense of the word.
