UPDATE: State police have safely located Darren Elling, who went missing on Saturday from Mountain Lake Academy near Lake Placid.

Original story: State Police are searching for a missing teen near Lake Placid. Darren Elling, 16, was last seen around 5:30 pm on Saturday, July 18.

Elling was attending Mountain Lake Academy in the town of North Elba.

According to a report from state troopers, Elling was wearing khaki pants, a long-sleeved olive-colored shirt and black Adidas sneakers when we went missing on Saturday.

Police say the teen has ties to Saranac Lake and Lake Placid as well as Albany and Schenectady. They describe Elling as a Black male around 5'10" with brown eyes.

Anyone with information is asked to call State Police in Ray Brook at (518) 873-2750.
