We’re in the middle of a gorgeous Michigan summer, and that means that local fruits and vegetables are popping across the state. Our local restaurants are starting to feature delicious seasonal dishes, like tomato salads, grilled zucchini, and peach pie. Enjoy the bounty of our Michigan summer at some of these great places recommended by our staff at MLive.
Restaurants across Michigan are cautiously reopening for dine-in service, after months of either being closed, or exclusively doing take-out. It’s both an exciting, and still difficult time for our local restaurants, as they work at a decreased capacity, or continue to only do food to-go. There’s no better time then now to support your favorite spots, and we’ve got some great suggestions for you from all over the state.
Our Michigan’s Best team of Amy Sherman and John Gonzalez recently went back on the road to finish up our search for Michigan’s Best Burger. We’ll have the results for you later this week. During our travels, we spotted a new trend at several spots around the state: tents popping up in parking lots to provide more dining space for patrons. O’s Pub & Grill in Auburn recently put one up, and added a few picnic tables so people can enjoy their incredible burgers under cover, yet outside. Bobcat Bonnie’s, home to some of Michigan’s Best French Fries, added the cutest dang tent you ever did see to their Ferndale location, festooned with colorful flags and twinkly lights. And Cognition Brewing in Ishpeming set up a whole tent outside the brewery in the street out front, so you can enjoy their delicious beers under the U.P. sky.
While we encourage you to eat out, or take-out, we also recommend you check in with your favorite spots to verify hours and menu, as everything is pretty fluid right now, and changes can happen on a daily basis.
In addition to these suggestions, we recommend checking out some of our Michigan’s Best restaurants who are working hard to stay in business, and keep their staff employed. Need some suggestions of where to order from? Check out our list of over 350 Michigan’s Best restaurants, please call and check on hours and offerings ahead of your visit or order.
As we reopen, we are reminded that we are still all in this together, and can get through it, one delicious dish at a time.
