The Giants are riding high as the best team in all of baseball, thanks to offseason additions that have played a major role in the team's success.
Breakout campaigns from players up and down the roster have the Giants thinking about the future, and how they can keep this group together for years to come.
Giants' President of Baseball Operations Farhan Zaidi joined "Power Alley" on MLB Network Radio to discuss how the team will navigate a busy offseason.
“We’ve had discussions with just about every impending free agent that we have on the roster," Zaidi said. "We’ve talked a lot about how happy we are with the roster and how these guys have played and how we’d like to keep the group together.”
A huge reason for San Francisco's success this season has been the starting pitching. Kevin Gausman has been one of the best pitchers in baseball for most of the season, and both Anthony DeSclafani and Alex Wood have far and away exceeded expectations.
This past offseason, Zaidi and the Giants took a chance on guys like DeSclafani and Wood, and it paid off big time.
"With guys like [Anthony] DeSclafani and Alex Wood, we got guys who we really like the track record of," Zaidi said. "Our pitching development group thought that they could really help them get back to a level that they had already achieved at the big league level. It just so happened that with a couple of those guys, they were coming off injuries or maybe not their best seasons."
The Giants, who actually had multi-year deals in mind for some of these players, settled for one-year deals.
"A lot of times those players want one-year deals, they want to re-establish their markets," Zaidi explained. "With a couple of those guys we actually approached the topic of multi-year deals, and they wanted the one-year deal, which makes for a busier offseason the next year."

The list of Giants' unrestricted free agents in 2022, includes:
Kris Bryant, Kevin Gausman, Brandon Belt, Anthony DeSclafani, Donovan Solano, Alex Wood and Tony Watson.
Johnny Cueto, Buster Posey and Wilmer Flores all have club options that might or might not be picked up by the team.
Safe to say, the Giants have a very busy offseason ahead of them.
"Certainly hoping that we can keep a lot of this group together with the way they’ve played this year, they’ve certainly earned that," Zaidi said.
