VAN BUREN COUNTY, MI - Police arrested a 36-year-old man from the Hartford Township area late Saturday evening on multiple outstanding warrants, according to a news release from the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies received a tip about potentially stolen property and suspicious activities at a Harford Township residence, according to the release. After identifying a suspect, police found the man driving a vehicle with a stolen license plate into Berrien County, where they requested the Watervliet Police Department’s help in stopping the driver.
During a traffic stop, police found the man had a suspended license and multiple warrants, on which he was arrested and taken to Berrien County Jail, according to the release. While searching the suspect’s vehicle, police found methamphetamines, a taser, several stolen license plates, and packaging materials police say are commonly used in selling narcotics.
One of the license plates belonged to a stolen trailer that matched the description of one in the suspect’s front yard. Upon returning to the residence, police confirmed the trailer was stolen and also found a stolen camper, according to the release.
The sheriff’s office will turn the case over to the Van Buren County Prosecutor’s office, according to the release.
