Fans of UNC have had a the good fortune of being able to root for some memorable dunkers in their history. Michael Jordan is obviously chief among them, but the list of those who could throw down and cause a crowd to just stop what they are doing is long and illustrious.
Cam Johnson wasn’t known as a dunker while at Carolina, but despite the fact that the Phoenix Suns lost to the Milwaukee Bucks in spectacular fashion a few minutes ago, all anybody is really talking about is... this:
The fun part of the clip here is the bewilderment by the recently departed PJ Tucker. It’s like he’s asking if someone got the license plate of the bus that just ran over him. Others noticed this as well:
The social media team for Phoenix was probably happy this happened considering how badly the game went not too long after this dunk. For a short time, Phoenix had the game close, and it was on the back of Cam Johnson who scored a quick 10 points including this dunk. It was enough to where the Suns account had to celebrate it:
Before that run, though, Milwaukee decided to waste a timeout challenging whether that was a block or a charge. You hear Jeff Van Gundy almost in pure disbelief that the Bucks would even bother doing this, saying even if it were somehow overturned that Johnson should still get the points just because of the sheer greatness of the dunk. ESPN’s Bomani Jones-a UNC alum-also had this salient take about the purpose of Milwaukee's challenge:
all this challenge is doing is giving the refs the pleasure of watching that dunk over and over.

Needless to say, Twitter blew up once the dunk happened:
I don't care if PJ Tucker was in position before Cam Johnson got there. You get dunked on, it's an And-One. Thems the (unwritten) rules. We came to be entertained with dunks, not taking charges.

And you can also hear it in another language:
I don’t even smoke and I need a cigarette after listening to that call.
As for those people saying “I didn’t know Cam could do this” or “he didn’t show any of this in college,” our own Akil Guruparan explained:
a) he was 1 year removed from a hip surgery

b) he jumped 38.5" at the combine
c) cam is neither the first or last player to have lost athleticism with Roy/Jonas https://t.co/pmh61Jg9kT
So, this dunk goes up against the likes of two other Tar Heels. The question is, who did it better? (Or, just relive a few iconic dunks over again)
Vince Carter:
Danny Green:
Or Cam Johnson:
Cam may still be the bronze here, but no matter what he delivered what will likely be the most memorable moment of the NBA Finals.
