Tomas Nido hits a grand slam at Citi Field
Mets C Tomas Nido confirmed in an Instagram post on Sunday that he was diagnosed with the coronavirus.
Nido had been placed on the Injured List on Aug. 25 and was cleared for baseball activity and returned to the Mets' 60-Man Player Pool on Sept. 5.
"Unfortunately my season was cut short after getting COVID and other related complications while trying to come back," Nido said in his post, noting that 2020 was filled with "a lot of ups and downs."
Nido slashed .292/.346/.583 in seven games this year, and has not played since Aug. 18.
