Sherman Douglas had a solid if unspectacular NBA career over 12 seasons, several of which came in Boston.
The point guard known as "The General" burst onto the scene with the Miami Heat, averaging 16.3 points per game over his first two seasons and making the All-Rookie first team in 1989-90.
But there was one thing Douglas never accomplished in his career — beating Michael Jordan.

Sure, a lot of players can say the same thing, but none with the longevity or the number of opportunities that Douglas had. The point guard played 30 games against MJ, and lost every single time.
NBC Sports NBA Insider Tom Haberstroh goes into further detail on Douglas' inability to beat Jordan in this week's Haberstat (video below).
A 30-0 clean sweep over a single player is by far the most lopsided matchup for any two players in NBA history. Larry Bird comes in second, with a 19-0 career mark against Major Jones, who played for the Rockets and Pistons from 1979-1985.
LeBron James had been in second place on that list, thanks to a career 28-0 record against Kemba Walker until the Celtics steamrolled the Lakers in January.
"I'm happy I got one at least before he goes," Walker said after Boston's 139-107 victory. "It's only one. 1-28. That's it."
That's still one more win than Douglas was able to get against Michael Jordan.
The Boston Celtics met their match in LeBron James' Miami Heat during the 2011 NBA playoffs. But Kevin Garnett wasn't about to let the C's get swept.
Exactly nine years ago today -- May 7, 2011 -- Garnett powered the Celtics to a convincing 97-81 win over the Heat in Game 3 of the 2011 Eastern Conference Semifinals at TD Garden.
Garnett dropped 28 points and 18 rebounds, becoming just the sixth Celtics player in franchise history to tally at least 28 points and 18 rebounds in a playoff game, according to Boston Sports Info (@BostonSportsInf).

The victory was Boston's only win of the series -- the Heat eventually lost to the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals -- but this was one of the last great playoff efforts from the Big Three, as Paul Pierce added 27 points and Ray Allen chipped in 15.
The Celtics are a brutal 2-8 all-time in games played on May 7. Here's their only other victory:
May 7, 1974: John Havlicek (28 points, nine rebounds and five assists) and Dave Cowens (28 points, six rebounds and six assists) carry the Celtics to a 96-87 win over the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 5 of the NBA Finals.
Although the Celtics will likely have to wait with Massachusetts' stay-at-home order extended until May 18, the NBA is still aiming toward reopening their team facilities on Friday.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the NBA players working out will be able to be supervised by team staff and coaches - just not the head coach.
Head coaches will not be allowed to participate or observe the player workouts, per sources. https://t.co/6gv87tl6G4

NBA commissioner Adam Silver is expected to join the NBA Players Association conference call on Friday as an informational check-in with players, Wojnarowski also reported.
The NBA has advised that players and coaches remain 12 feet apart while on the floor together and follow other protocols set down by the league, local authorities and the Center for Disease Control. The Cleveland Cavaliers are among the teams planning on beginning socially distanced workouts Friday.
