YPSILANTI, MI — State officials went into graphic detail when describing conditions at an unlicensed crematorium while testifying in the case against O’Neil D. Swanson on Tuesday, Nov. 2.
“There were hundreds of flies that laid on top of a cremains box,” said Benjamin Parker, division director of Michigan’s Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. “There was a distinct smell, maggots, lots of bodily fluids, and discoloration from [the bodies] being in those containers. It’s an image that you can’t get out of your head.”
