Citywide there’s been a 30% increase in rodent sightings reported since 2019.
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Even though Staten Islanders said they’ve seen more rodents scurrying about the borough in recent weeks, city data shows there were more rodent sighting complaints made in 2020.
Many Staten Islanders said they saw an increase in rodents in October, specifically during a two-week period when the city Department of Sanitation (DSNY) had a “slowdown” because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine mandate set by Mayor Bill de Blasio.
