CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Some of our best memories come from the places we went to be entertained, to relax and to have fun. What places come to mind when you think back to the 1980s in Northeast Ohio?
The video above is sure to bring you some 80s nostalgia.
Do you remember walking across the giant parking lot outside Richfield Coliseum to watch the Cavs, the Cleveland Force or the Cleveland Crunch? Were you part of the roar at Municipal Stadium during a Browns win?
What rides do you remember from Geauga Lake Amusement Park? Can you believe Northeast Ohio was ever the home of SeaWorld?
Some of the major events each year included the National Rib Cook-Off, the Grand Prix of Cleveland and the National Air Show.
The Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland Orchestra and Cleveland Museum of Natural History thrilled visitors throughout those years, just as they do today. The stages at Playhouse Square and Karamu House continue to stimulate the imaginations of those in attendance.
The Flats neighborhood was the entertainment mecca of the 1980s in Cleveland. While Peabody’s, Fagan’s and so many others have come and gone, Shooter’s on the Water has endured to this day.
It’s impossible for an article to include all the ways Clevelanders had fun back then, but the historical photos below should also transport you to that decade for a few moments.
