Alabama’ Najee Harris will likely be the first running back selected in April’s draft, and the Steelers may be one of his preferred destinations.
Harris joined The Adam Schefter Podcast on Monday, and described both his virtual and in-person interactions with the organization as “chill.”
While the meeting did not delve deeper than general questions exploring Harris’ personality and interests, he did mention speaking with both general manager Kevin Colbert and head coach Mike Tomlin.
“They was chill,” he said.
Schefter even campaigned on the behalf of the Steelers, telling Harris he could see him in a Pittsburgh uniform.
Still, Harris remained neutral, reminding Schefter that he has no control over where he will begin his NFL career.
Harris had an outstanding senior campaign in Tuscaloosa, rushing for 1,466 yards and 26 touchdowns. He also improved his stock as a receiver, catching 43 passes for 425 yards and four more scores in 2020.
Not only did Harris win the National Championships with the Crimson Tide in January, he was also named a unanimous All-American and awarded the Doak Walker Award as the nation’s top running back.
Harris would provide an immediate boost to a Steelers rushing attack that was the NFL’s worst in 2020.
