Young aspiring bull riders took part in the Southern California Youth Bull Riders third event of the season at Hauser’s Bucking Bull Arena in Winchester on Saturday. Riders as young as 4, both boys and girls, rode sheep, calves and steers depending on experience, hoping to hold on for the full 8 seconds.
Junior Saenz , SCYBR president, and former Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association bull rider, created the 8-event series in 2018 saying, “I don’t wanna see rodeo go away. I want to show kids an alternative sport to take part in, one that builds character. We don’t give participation trophies, these kids earn what they get through hard work and dedication.”
Winners of each division will receive a customized belt buckle, with the series champion receiving a saddle at season end. The next event is scheduled for June 26.
