riariaga.blogspot.com

Riverside County surpassed 80,000 confirmed coronavirus cases Monday, Nov. 23, county data show.

Also, there were more than 400 coronavirus patients in county hospitals Saturday, Nov. 21, and Sunday, Nov. 22 — the first time that’s happened since Aug. 6. The number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients has doubled since Nov. 6.

Riverside County has added an average of 595 new cases per day over the past week. That number was 604 a week ago, 386 two weeks ago and 313 three weeks ago — a higher rate, but not as high as in San Bernardino County, which is averaging more than 1,400 new cases a day over the past week.

Here are the numbers as of Monday, according to state and county public health officials.

Riverside County

Confirmed cases: 80,011 total, up 1,569 from Friday, Nov. 20, averaging 595 reported per day in the past week

Deaths: 1,413 total, up 13 from Friday, averaging 5.6 reported per day in the past week

Hospital survey: 409 confirmed and 65 suspected patients hospitalized Sunday, including 96 confirmed and 11 suspected patients in the ICU, with 19 of 25 facilities reporting. The number of confirmed patients is up 27.8% from a week earlier.

People tested: 1,026,878 total, up 34,814 from Friday, averaging 10,846 reported per day in the past week

Recovered cases: 66,087 total, up 474 from Friday, averaging 166 per day in the past week

Reopening plan tier: Purple (widespread risk level, many non-essential indoor business operations are closed) based on these metrics as of Monday, Nov. 16:

    • New cases per day per 100,000 residents: 21.1
    • Case rate adjusted for testing volume: 22.4
    • Test positivity rate: 8.9% (8.5% in socioeconomically challenged neighborhoods)
    • What’s next: Riverside County is not meeting the criteria to move to a less-restrictive tier. When it has met them for two consecutive weeks, it can advance.
