Bass on his record-tying day
Bills kicker Tyler Bass tied Steve Christie's team record with six made field goals, beginning with a career-best 53-yard kick in the second quarter. His eight field goal attempts were the most by an NFL rookie since the 1970 merger and tied for the most among any player in that span, according to NFL Research.
"It's amazing," Bass said. "I just couldn't have done it without the guys up front, couldn't have done it without (long snapper) Reid (Ferguson), Bojo, the coaches for believing in me. But, yeah, it's a good feeling that we won. That's most important. I know I got some things to clean up but other than that I was very proud of what happened."
Bass began his day with a miss from 45 yards, one of two misses on the afternoon.
"Coach always talks about character," he said. "It's really not about how many you make. It's about what you do after a miss, after something goes wrong. Anyone can handle stuff when things are easy. It's just about, when something goes wrong, it's about, how do you handle that? You don't let if define you. … You just trust everything you've done in practice that week and you put it to show."
