Try your luck at Oregon’s top tribal casinos: Gerry Frank’s picks - oregonlive.com

After the kind of year we’ve all had, I think most of us would say that we’re ready for a little more fun. Here’s a round-up of some of the best tribal casinos that Oregon has to offer.

All have reopened after last spring’s coronavirus shutdown. But safety measures are in place. Check each casino’s website for safety precautions.

Wildhorse Resort & Casino (46510 Wildhorse Boulevard, Pendleton; 541-278-2274; wildhorseresort.com), operated by the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation in Eastern Oregon, takes the cake for being my personal favorite resort casino. They offer 1,200 slots, more than a dozen table games, bingo, lodging, RV sites, golf, a fabulous restaurant and now even more. Last month, Wildhorse opened their Family Funplex, which features a food court with even more dining options, including two local vendors (Moe Phở and Brigham Fish 'n Chips), a Wildhorse-run restaurant serving up burgers, pizza, salads and appetizers and most importantly – a sweet shop. The Funplex also includes an expanded arcade with over 30 new games and a 24-lane, state-of-the-art bowling center that the whole family can enjoy.

Spirit Mountain Casino (27100 S.W. Salmon River Highway, Grand Ronde; 503-879-2350; spiritmountain.com), operated by the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde community, boasts Oregon’s largest buffet and slot collection at nearly 2,000 slots, so it’s no surprise that it is one of Oregon’s most popular casinos. Along with the latest and greatest slots, visitors can also enjoy a variety of table games, bingo, a kids arcade, concerts and special events as well as lodging with more than 250 rooms and RV parking.

The Oregon coast is most known for Chinook Winds Casino Resort (1777 N.W. 44th Street, Lincoln City; 541-996-5825; chinookwindscasino.com), operated by the Confederated Tribes of the Siletz Reservation. I especially enjoy its prime location and oceanfront lodging. Visitors have more than 1,100 slots and nearly 30 table games to test their luck. A variety of special events (concerts, comedy, and golf tournaments) are also a major draw for this property.

Three Rivers Casino Resort (5647 Highway 126, Florence; 541-997-7529; threeriverscasino.com), operated by the Confederated Tribes of Coos, has two beautiful properties (1297 Ocean Boulevard, Coos Bay; 877-374-8377; threeriverscasino.com) on the Oregon coast. The Florence location boasts 700 slots, table games, bingo, traditional lodging, free RV sites, dining and a live concert venue, whereas the Coos Bay location is a bit more compact with 250 slots. They, too, offer table games, live entertainment and dining.

Nearby, The Mill Casino (3201 Tremont Street, North Bend; 541-756-8800; themillcasino.com), operated by the Coquille Tribe, offers 200 guest rooms, 100 RV sites, dining, an event space, and more than 700 slots.

The all-new fourth edition of “Gerry Frank’s Oregon” guidebook is available through oregonguidebook.com; 503-585-8411; gerry@teleport.com; amazon.com; Macy’s; and P.O. Box 2225, Salem, OR 97308.
